Pedro booked in the heat and now wears a heavy coat indoors: 24-hour installation in Zurgena

At Híper Ocio we don't only talk about toys. We have been the family shop in Albox since 1923, and for some time now we also have our own air conditioning sales and installation service in the area. This is the story of yesterday and of this very morning, just as we tell it here.

Zurgena, yesterday afternoon

Yesterday afternoon it was properly stifling in Zurgena. The heat stayed trapped inside the house and there was no way of getting it out: you raise the blind, lower it, open the window for a while and more heat comes in than goes out. That silly afternoon when you end up staring at the ceiling thinking enough is enough.

That was Pedro's situation. He is a customer and a lifelong friend of Híper Ocio, and lives in Zurgena. He had been thinking about getting air conditioning for a while, but one thing and another kept putting it off. Yesterday, with that afternoon weighing on him, he decided he would not delay it any longer.

He booked from the sofa, without calling anyone

He picked up his phone and went to the Híper Ocio installation website. No calling and waiting for someone to pick up, no leaving a message so that someone rings back the next day. He looked at which slots were free that week, saw one available for the following morning and booked it there and then, without leaving the sofa.

An important note on how this works: the time you book is a preferred time slot, not a time guaranteed to the minute. Híper Ocio does its best to keep to it, but if the previous installation runs over or something unexpected comes up with the van, there may be some leeway. What is fixed is that within 24 hours of booking, they confirm the day to you. Pedro did not even need that leeway: he booked in the afternoon and the next morning he already had the unit fitted.

Our own van and a technician with a RITE licence

Why can Híper Ocio fit an installation in from one day to the next, when elsewhere the norm is to wait weeks? Because there are no subcontractors or middlemen involved: our own van and a technician with a RITE licence, the one required by law to handle refrigerant gases and install air conditioning.

That does not mean we can reach any point in Spain within 24 hours, or that there is always a free slot straight away: availability depends on each week's calendar. What is real is that, because we work a limited area (the Valle del Almanzora, Los Vélez and the Levante almeriense), journeys are short, and that leaves nearby slots in the calendar instead of overloaded schedules.

This morning, in Pedro's top-floor flat

This morning, early, the Híper Ocio team arrived at Pedro's home with all the equipment in the van. The outdoor unit has been fitted on the façade of the top-floor flat, next to the terrace where Pedro puts out the table and chairs in summer. Inside, in the bedroom, the split unit has been mounted high on the wall.

No building work, no rubble, no leaving the house upside down. The technician comes in, checks where each unit goes, does the installation and leaves with the new unit running and the house as it was.

The heavy coat joke

And here is the best part. Pedro told us, laughing, that since the unit went in the house is so cool that he is walking around indoors in a heavy coat. The same man who yesterday afternoon did not know where to put himself for the heat is today wrapped up in his own living room.

So if yesterday Pedro's problem was the heat, today the problem is the opposite: he has got a little cold. Swapping one problem for the other, in the middle of July, is not bad at all.

Do you live in Zurgena, the Valle del Almanzora, Los Vélez or the Levante almeriense?

If Pedro's afternoon sounds familiar and you live in this area, the process is the same one he followed: go to the installation booking page, see which slots are free that week and book the one that suits you best. We confirm the day within 24 hours and, with our own van and a technician with a RITE licence, we fit your installation into the calendar as quickly as we fitted Pedro's.

If you are from Zurgena like Pedro, on the area page you will find all the information on how we work in your town. And if you have not yet chosen a unit, the air conditioning catalogue is available in the shop so you can see them all before deciding.

Before booking, work out how many frigorías you need

A unit with fewer frigorías than the room needs will never cool properly, however good it is. And one with more than necessary uses more energy than it should. That is why, before booking, it is worth spending two minutes on the frigorías calculator: enter the square metres and the orientation of the room, and it gives you a clear idea of what power to look for.

That way, when you book your slot, you already know exactly what to ask for, with no surprises afterwards.

If this summer you also want to swap the heat joke for the heavy coat joke, you know what to do: book your installation slot and leave the rest to us.

Frequently asked questions

Is the time I book on the website the exact time the technician will arrive?
It is a preferred time slot, not a time guaranteed to the minute. We confirm the day within 24 hours and do our best to keep to the slot you chose, although there may be some leeway if something unexpected comes up on a previous installation.

Does Híper Ocio install air conditioning anywhere in Spain?
No. The installation service with our own van and a technician with a RITE licence covers the Valle del Almanzora, Los Vélez and the Levante almeriense. Working this limited area is precisely what allows us to offer nearby slots in the calendar.

I don't know how many frigorías I need for my room. What should I do?
Before booking you can use the frigorías calculator on the website: with the square metres and the orientation of the room it gives you a clear idea of the power you need.
