Frequently asked questions

Do I need to use oil?

It is not essential, but a light spray improves browning and flavour. A tablespoon or a spray of oil is usually enough for a basket full of chips. For pre-cooked frozen food (which already contains some oil), there is no need to add anything.

Can I cook frozen food straight away?

Yes, without defrosting it first. Add 3-5 minutes to the usual cooking time and, if there are a lot of pieces, extend it slightly or shake the basket.

Is it very noisy?

The fan produces a hum similar to that of a fan oven, perfectly compatible with conversation or television. It is not an annoying noise and is much less noticeable than a traditional fryer with bubbling oil.

Can the basket be washed in the dishwasher?

Yes, the non-stick basket is dishwasher safe. Running it through the eco cycle is enough to clean it thoroughly. To preserve the non-stick coating in the long term, you can also wash it by hand with a soft sponge.

How long does it take to preheat?

Between 3 and 5 minutes at 180-200 ºC. Much faster than a conventional oven, which can take 10-15 minutes to reach those temperatures.

Can I open it during cooking to check?

Yes. When you remove the basket, the appliance pauses automatically. When you put it back in, it resumes the cycle from where it stopped. You do not lose any significant time.

Does it taste as good as food fried in oil?

In most cases yes, and in many cases better. Food comes out crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside without being soaked in fat, which improves the real flavour. The difference is most noticeable with chips and light batters.

Is it difficult to use for an older or non-technical person?

No. The automatic programmes simplify use to "choose the type of food and press". For basic use, there is no need to understand temperatures or times: the fryer takes care of it.

What size of chicken fits?

A whole chicken of up to 1,5-1,8 kg fits comfortably in the 6,5 L basket. It is advisable to tie the legs and wings so they do not touch the upper heating element during cooking.
