The French group is one of the largest board game publishers and distributors in the world, and in Spain it operates through Asmodee Iberia (formerly Edge Entertainment), bringing dozens of licences into Spanish. Who Asmodee are and why it matters

Asmodee was founded in France in 1995 and, over the decades, has taken over some of the best-known publishers in the industry: Days of Wonder (Ticket to Ride, Memoir '44), Repos Production (The Werewolves of Millers Hollow, 7 Wonders), Libellud (Dixit, Mysterium), Z-Man Games (Pandemic, Carcassonne in the US), Plan B Games (Azul) and many more. In Spain it operates under the name Asmodee Iberia (successor to Edge Entertainment), which translates, publishes and distributes the group's catalogue in Spanish.

As a result, when we talk about "Asmodee games" we are really talking about several generations of designers and styles: from lightning-fast party games such as Dobble to medium-weight eurogames such as Azul, by way of narrative co-operative games such as Pandemic or hidden-role card games such as Bang! The publishing range is broad and covers practically every audience.

Dobble: the classic game of observation and speed

Dobble is probably the best-selling card game in Spain of the last decade. The rules could not be simpler: each card has 8 symbols, and any two cards always share exactly one symbol. Whoever spots it first wins the card. Five mini-games in a single box, games lasting 5-15 minutes, suitable from age 6. We stock it in several themed editions:

If you are buying Dobble as a present but are not sure what the child is a fan of, go for the Classic: it is the most versatile and never goes out of fashion. The themed editions work best when you already know the recipient likes that licence.

Bang!: cards, duels and the Wild West

Bang! is the hidden-role card game set in the Wild West. Each player receives a secret role (Sheriff, Outlaw, Renegade, Deputy) and must achieve their objective without the others guessing who they are. It is one of Asmodee Iberia's biggest hits and is published in Spanish by Edge. We stock the whole family:

Exploding Kittens: cats, explosions and plenty of laughter

Exploding Kittens was the most successful board game in Kickstarter history: it raised $8.7 million in 2015. The rules are very simple: you draw cards from the deck and, if you get an "exploding kitten", you are out (unless you have a "defuse" card). The rest of the deck is made up of cards with absurd effects. Quick games (10-15 min) and very noisy. It is published in Spanish by Asmodee Iberia:

Exploding Kittens Party Pack · SKU ASMODEE-EKIEK04ES · €23.99 · up to 10 players. The version for large groups. The same mechanics but with more cards, so up to 10 people can play at once. Handy for dinners, birthdays and big family gatherings.

Dixit: illustrated cards, imagination and storytelling

Dixit is the game that proved a board game can be not only fun but also a small work of art. The cards are dreamlike illustrations (impossible landscapes, anthropomorphic animals, magical scenes) and players take turns describing one of their cards with a cryptic phrase. The others have to guess which card it was among those everyone else puts down. Imagination, risk and plenty of lingering round the family table:

Imagine Family · SKU ASMODEE-CGIMFA01 · €24.99. Although it is not Dixit, it shares much of that philosophy: transparent cards are combined to represent concepts, and the others have to guess what it is. Family-friendly and very creative.

Ticket to Ride: the railway route across Europe

Ticket to Ride is the great classic eurogame for introducing someone to the world of modern board games. The idea: you have to connect cities with train routes, completing the secret objectives you are dealt. Games last 30-60 minutes, the rules are clear and the experience is very "clean". It is published by Days of Wonder (an Asmodee group label). We stock the two most popular versions:

If you are torn between the two for your first Ticket to Ride: if you will be playing with children or people who have never tried a eurogame, choose the USA edition. If the group already has some board game experience, the Europe edition offers more decisions.

If it is a present and you do not know the recipient's tastes, the Dobble Classic. If you know they are a fan of Bluey, Stitch, The Lord of the Rings or Catan, go for the corresponding themed edition. They all have the same rules and price (€15.99); only the illustrations change.

What is the difference between Bang! The Card Game and Bang! The Bullet!?

Is Exploding Kittens NSFW suitable for playing with children?

No. The NSFW version has explicit illustrations and adult humour. For playing with under-18s, go for the original edition (ASMODEE-EKIEK01ES, €19.99), suitable from age 7.

Do you deliver Asmodee games throughout Spain?
