How to finish the 2026 World Cup album now that Spain have won

The Monday after the final, a lad of about ten came into the shop with his album under his arm, one of those that no longer shut properly because they are bloated with stickers, as one does every World Cup. He opened it on the counter, turned the pages to the end and asked what they all ask: "So what am I missing now?".
Good question, because the answer is not just "stickers". When a World Cup ends, the Panini collection does not end with it: two pieces are still left that do not come in the packs and that many people do not know exist until they see a friend's album with them in place. One is the players who joined the squads when the collection was already printed. The other is the champion's poster, which this year is Spain's, world champions after beating Argentina 1-0 in extra time.
This guide is for anyone whose album is half done, or nearly finished, and who wants to know what is really left, how much it costs to finish it and how to go about it without overspending. It works just as well if the album is your child's or, as happens more often than you would think, your own.
First: how many stickers are you really missing
The 2026 World Cup collection is 980 stickers in a 112-page album, at 7 stickers per pack. Those numbers give two very different sums, and it is worth knowing both before you start buying.
The good sum, the one on paper: 980 stickers divided by 7 is 140 packs. If every sticker you opened were new, 140 packs would fill your album. Nobody in the history of sticker collecting has ever filled an album that way.
The real sum is another one, and it has a mathematical name: the coupon collector's problem. Buying blind, without swapping with anyone, you need to open around 7,300 stickers to collect all 980 different ones, which is about 1,045 packs. The reason is easy to see: the first packs are almost all new, but when you are missing ten stickers, every pack you open brings seven you already have.
That jump from 140 to 1,045 is not meant to frighten you, it is meant to help you decide well: buy stickers for the first half of the album and swap for the second. Whoever understands that finishes the album; whoever does not gets tired with thirty stickers to go.
So before you buy anything, do a count. Page by page, noting the numbers you are missing. With the list in front of you, you can see straight away which of three situations you are in:
- Less than half done: the larger formats are worth it for you. Almost every pack you open is new.
- Between half and 80%: packs yes, but sensibly now, and start arranging swaps.
- Over 80%: stop buying packs blind. From here on swapping takes over and, for the last ones, the missing stickers service.
The two pieces that do not come in packs
This is the part almost everyone misses. However many packs you open, there are 150 stickers in this collection that will never come out of a pack, because they are published separately.
The Update Set: the 118 who arrived late
A sticker collection is printed months before the tournament, and the final squad lists are settled at the last minute. There are always players who drop out, others who come in, and some who change team. That is what the Update Set is for: 120 update stickers in 6 sheets of 20, with the 118 players who joined the official squads when the album was already in the shops.
It is not a collector's extra: these are stickers with their own space in the album. Without the Update Set, the 2026 World Cup album cannot be finished. We devoted a whole article to it when it came out, the 2026 World Cup Update Set, and everything said there still holds.
The Official Winner Poster: the 26 of Spain
The other one is new this month, and it is the piece with which Panini closes every World Cup. The Official Winner Poster is published after the final, when it is known who has won, with images from the match as it was played. That is why it cannot exist earlier: it is not a forecast, it is a chronicle.
The 2026 one is Spain's. It comes with a poster to hang up and 30 stickers on three sheets: one for each of the 26 players in the champion squad, plus a sticker puzzle of the celebration at the final whistle. The poster itself also shows the final score, the road both finalists took to get there and the tournament's individual awards, including Rodri's Golden Ball and Mbappé's Golden Boot.
The poster's stickers go on the poster, not in the album. It is a separate piece, with its own place on the wall. We have it on its own and in packs with packets or with the album, depending on what you are missing.
How much it costs to finish the album
With Panini's recommended prices you can do an honest sum. These are the formats and what each one costs:
- Official album, €5.00
- Single pack (7 stickers), €1.50
- Eco-blister of 8 packs (56 stickers), €12.00
- Factory-sealed box of 50 packs (350 stickers), €74.99
- Update Set (120 stickers), €19.90
- Champion's poster (30 stickers), €19.90
Note a detail that surprises many people: the box of 50 packs is not a special offer. It works out at the same €1.50 per pack as buying them one by one. What it saves is time, trips and postage, and it stops you running short on a Sunday. When someone asks us whether it is cheaper, the answer is no: it is more convenient.
With that, the typical sums look like this. If your album is half done and you are missing about 490 stickers, counting duplicates you will need more than 200 packs to reach 90%, and you finish the last stretch by swapping. If you are only missing a few, an eco-blister now and then and plenty of swapping. And in both cases, the Update Set and the poster separately, because they do not come out of packs.
Duplicates are not rubbish
A World Cup album produces mountains of duplicates, and that is where it is decided whether you finish or not. Three things that really work:
Swap, and swap early. Do not wait until you have 300 duplicates to begin. As soon as you have twenty, you already have something to bargain with. In the school playgrounds of the Almanzora they have been swapping since the collection came out, and in September, with the return to school, it picks up by itself.
Store them properly. A bent duplicate or one with a lifted edge is no good for swapping. That is why we put a rigid deck box in every pack we put together ourselves: a small box with a lid that holds the duplicates and the unopened packs, and survives a school bag. It does not come from Panini, we add it ourselves, and we do not charge extra for it.
The last ones, the short way. When you are missing ten or fifteen specific stickers, carrying on buying packs is throwing money away. Panini has a missing stickers service on its website where you order them by number. It is worth looking at in good time: at the end of a collection orders pile up and can take weeks. We do not sell single stickers by number (that is Panini's business), but we are happy to tell you where to find it.
Which format suits you, depending on where you are
In short, so you do not have to think about it any more:
- Starting from zero (or the album got lost): you need an album and packs together. That is where the packs with an album come in, from the album + 8 packs one to the album + poster + box of 50 one, which gets the collection under way and brings the World Cup keepsake home in a single purchase.
- Album half done: packs only. Eco-blister of 8 if you go little by little, box of 50 if you want to move ahead in one go. The refill packs are the same thing with the deck box included.
- Album almost done: stop buying packs blind. What you need is the Update Set, swaps, and the pack that puts the Update Set together with the champion's poster, which are the two pieces from outside the packs.
- You do not collect, but you want the keepsake: the poster on its own and that is it. €19.90, you hang it up and you are done.
When to stop and hang it up
Something those of us who sell stickers rarely say: not every album has to be finished. A World Cup album at 95%, with the final's stickers stuck in and the champion's poster above the bed, is a perfect memory of one particular summer. Spending another hundred euros chasing six stickers that never turn up is the quickest way to make a child stop collecting for good.
The 2026 World Cup will be remembered in this house for many things, but above all for one July afternoon when Ferran Torres scored in the 106th minute and there was not an empty inch in the village. Having that stuck on a wall, in stickers, is worth more than three empty spaces.
Why Híper Ocio
We are an official Panini point of sale and have been selling stickers for more decades than anyone remembers: the family opened the shop in 1923 and it is now run by the fourth generation, Antonio Martínez Rosado. That does not make the stickers better (they are the same Panini ones everywhere), but it does change two things.
The first is that we know what is on offer. If you ask us whether a box of 50 is worth it, we will tell you it costs the same per pack as buying them singly, not that it is a bargain. The second is that we put the packs together by hand in Albox, and we add the deck box because we have seen too many duplicates ruined at the bottom of a school bag.
Everything in this collection is together on the 2026 World Cup stickers page. Shipping is free across mainland Spain from €49.99, and if you live nearby you can drop by the Albox shop, where there is always a counter for swapping stickers.
Frequently asked questions
How many packs do you need to complete the 2026 World Cup album?
In theory 140 packs, because it is 980 stickers at 7 per pack. In practice, buying blind and without swapping with anyone, you would need around 1,045 packs, because as you go on every pack brings more duplicates. That is why the second half of the album is completed by swapping, not buying.
Can you finish the album without the Update Set?
No. The Update Set is 120 update stickers with the 118 players who joined the official squads after the collection was printed, and they have their own space in the album. They do not come in packs, so you have to buy it separately.
What exactly is the Official Winner Poster and what does it include?
It is the poster that Panini publishes once the tournament is over, dedicated to the champion team. The 2026 one is Spain's: a poster to hang up and 30 stickers on three sheets, one for each of the champion's 26 players plus a puzzle of the celebration. It also shows the final score, the road both finalists took and the tournament's individual awards.
Do the poster's stickers go in the album?
No. The poster's 30 stickers have their space on the poster itself. The album is for the 980 stickers of the collection that come in the packs.
Is the box of 50 packs cheaper than buying them singly?
No: it costs the same per pack, €1.50 recommended retail price. What it saves is time and postage, and it stops you running short. It is a format for convenience, not for a discount.
Do you sell single stickers by number for the ones I am missing?
No, Panini handles that with its missing stickers service, where you order them by number from its website. At the end of a collection there is usually a lot of demand and they take a while, so it is best not to leave it until the last day.
