Forbidden Island is an exciting cooperative game designed by Matt Leacock, creator of the famous Pandemic universe. Released in 2010, this game challenges players to work together to save the treasures of a sinking island. Each player takes on the role of an adventurer with special abilities, such as a pilot, explorer, or engineer, and must use their powers to help the team recover the four treasures and escape by helicopter before the island disappears beneath the waters.

Objective of the Game

The objective of Forbidden Island is to recover the island's four treasures (The Earth Stone, The Fire Crystal, The Wind Statue, and The Ocean Chalice) and escape in the helicopter before the island sinks completely.

How to Play

  1. Preparation: Build the board with the island tiles in the shape of a cross. Place the pawns and treasures in their starting positions.
  2. Turns: Each player can take three actions per turn: move, secure sunken tiles, give treasure cards to a teammate, or hand over 4 treasure cards to recover a treasure.
  3. Draw cards: At the end of the turn, the player draws cards from the treasure deck and the flood deck, raising the water level and sinking the tiles.
  4. Collaboration: Players must communicate and plan together to secure critical tiles and recover treasure.
  5. Victory or defeat: If the players recover all four treasures and escape in the helicopter, they win the game. If the island sinks completely or the players can't move in time, they lose.

Forbidden Island encourages communication and teamwork, challenging players to coordinate their movements and utilize their special abilities to overcome obstacles. High replayability and the ability to adjust the difficulty level make each game unique and exciting.
